Tent Tales for Tykes – Various L.L. Bean Locations

Step into the L.L.Bean Tent for storytime at your local L.L.Bean store! During each session, we’ll explore a different nature or outdoor theme, followed by related activities, games, or crafts. Hither Hills State Park hosts a weekly sandcastle contest, which is open to all ages. Sand, water, and natural materials native to the beach can be used to create sculptures. Each week prizes will be awarded for the best sculptors and castles in several categories.

Code your own video game with MakeCode Arcade – Microsoft Store – Roosevelt Field

In this free two-hour workshop, students eight and older use block coding to create a video game with MakeCode Arcade. Students learn fundamental game and coding concepts—like sprites, variables, and coordinates—and use their new skills to create and customize a playable game. By the end of the workshop, students will have: Learned and used key game design and coding concepts, Shared their games with a partner for inspiration, Published their game via URL so they can continue to play and develop it after the workshop. The parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult caregiver of every participant under 17 years of age must sign a Participation Agreement upon arrival and remain in Microsoft Store for the duration of the event. Vanderbilt Museum’s 31st Shakespeare Festival: Julius Caesar – Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium

The Carriage House Players (CHP) will present the 31st annual Shakespeare Festival, sponsored by Bank of America, at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum throughout July and August. This August, The Players perform Julius Caesar on the stage in the beautiful Vanderbilt Mansion courtyard, where the Spanish-Mediterranean architecture adds a touch of timeless atmosphere and charm. This very popular festival is one of the reasons the Vanderbilt is a favorite regional destination every summer. Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy before the show.

National Geographic Photo Ark by Joel Sartore – Southampton Arts Center

The International Center of Photography and Southampton Arts Center are thrilled to co-present the National Geographic Photo Ark exhibition, featuring the compelling and visually stunning work of National Geographic photographer and Fellow Joel Sartore. The exhibition will highlight Sartore’s images from his work in more than 250 zoos, aquariums, and animal rescue centers around the world. Founded by Sartore in 2006, the National Geographic Photo Ark aims to document event species living in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, inspire action through education, and help save wildlife by supporting on-the-ground conservation efforts. National Geographic is showcasing this important project through multiple platforms, including this exhibition, to inspire people not just to care, but also to help protect these animals for future generations. In addition to creating an archival record for generations to come, this project is a hopeful platform for conservation and shines a light on individuals and organizations working to preserve species around the world.
Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium Presents: Looking Back, Looking Ahead – Cold Spring Harbor Library

An art exhibit of paintings by Hatchery staffer, Diane Lundegaard is being held at the Cold Spring Harbor Library & Environmental Center. A donation of proceeds goes to the Hatchery’s new Turtle Pond Exhibit. Paintings include fish, salamanders, and other aquatic life as well as a retrospective of the range of the artist’s work from childhood to the present.
Imagine That! Family Art Workshops: Drip Painting – The Pollock- Krasner House and Study Center
